Three-step Enrollment

Process. Enrollment is a three-step process.

  1. Complete the registration form on this site.
  2. Meet with the Volo team.
  3. Pay tuition fees, pick up your packet, and formally join the community!

Commitment. Volo is more than a regular school. We are a community of people who share a vision and commitment to enlightened child-centered education. Please be sure to read the vision and commitment section below.

Membership Vision and Commitment

Any community-based endeavor requires a core group of people dedicated to the cause and willing to invest passion, perseverance, and patience. This year your child and your family have the opportunity to be part of this lively core. The community commitment includes the following…

  •   Financial tuition commitment to the program that you join.
  •    Willingness to contribute to the formation of the Volo Natural Learning Community. This could be contributing expertise, introductions, teaching, building infrastructure, funding, or whatever resonates within your scope of knowledge, time, and resources.
  •    Firm personal commitment to the Volo mission & values: child-centered education including involvement of the young person’s choices (agency); abundant time outside (nature); and a group of young people, adults, staff, and partners (community); secular and respecting individual spirituality; and inclusive.
  •    Participation in Volo governance or committee meetings to lend your voice, consideration, and support.

If you or someone you know fits the profile for this community, please reach out to begin a conversation. We anticipate filling the inaugural cohort by the end of May.

Volo's Inaugural Core

The Volo Natural Learning Community is envisioned to adapt flexibly over time, with the help of youth participants and leaders, learning from mistakes and building on successes. As needs and opportunities change, Volo will keep pace.

To begin, Volo is gathering a core group of local, committed families who are passionate about Volo’s mission and bringing it to life!

Tuition and Fees

Every member is asked to give something. Volo’s mission requires funding. We are keeping costs as low as possible, in part by accepting the willingness of faculty and volunteers to give of their time. We have also received exceptional donations, totalling over $350,000 in value. Tuition is also required to help pay the costs inherent for a learning community, including facilities maintenance, supplies, staffing, bookkeeping, and more.
