2026–2027 School Year
At Volo, we strive to make meaningful, whole-child education accessible while sustaining high-quality learning through our small community, experienced mentors, and rich, place-based experiences.
Enrollment Deadline: April 18, 2026 Secure your child's spot with a signed Enrollment Contract and deposit.
| Program | Standard Rate (New Families) |
Founder Rate (Returning Families) |
|---|---|---|
| The Luminary (Mon–Thu) | $16,500 | $15,000 |
| The Quest (Fridays, standalone) | $2,800 | $2,300 |
| The Quest (Fridays, Luminary add-on) | $1,200 | $1,000 |
Who qualifies for the Founder Rate? Any family that has been enrolled at Volo in a previous year — including families who left and are returning. New families enroll at the Standard Rate.
Families who enroll for 2026–27 receive a two-year tuition guarantee: your rate will not increase before June 2028.
Volo is both an approved UFA private school and an approved UFA vendor. This means UFA can work for your family in two ways, depending on how you educate your child.
Families who enroll their child at Volo as their primary school receive $8,000 from UFA. This applies to the Luminary (Mon–Thu) or the Luminary + Quest (Mon–Fri).
| Program | Tuition | With UFA ($8,000) |
|---|---|---|
| The Luminary (New Families) | $16,500 | $8,500 |
| The Luminary (Returning Families) | $15,000 | $7,000 |
| Luminary + Quest (New Families) | $17,700 | $9,700 |
| Luminary + Quest (Returning Families) | $16,000 | $8,000 |
Sibling discounts and additional financial aid can reduce these amounts further. The deposit is included in these totals, not added on top.
If you homeschool your child and receive the UFA scholarship, you can use those funds to enroll in the Quest — Volo's Friday program of outdoor expeditions, projects, and community. Homeschool UFA recipients ages 5–11 receive $4,000; ages 12 and up receive $6,000.
| Program | Tuition | With UFA ($4,000+) |
|---|---|---|
| The Quest (New Families) | $2,800 | $0 — fully covered |
| The Quest (Returning Families) | $2,300 | $0 — fully covered |
UFA covers the full cost of the Quest regardless of age bracket, with funds remaining in your child's ESA for other approved educational expenses such as curriculum, tutoring, or educational materials.
All families pay the same deposit as any other family — $1,500 for the Luminary, $300 for the Quest — by the same April 18 deadline. For families whose enrollment is contingent on UFA: if you apply for the scholarship and are denied, your deposit is fully refundable.
This means you can secure your child's seat now without putting money at risk while you wait for your scholarship decision.
UFA scholarship decisions are expected in June, months after you need to plan for the school year. We've built our enrollment process around this reality so you're never left guessing:
Deposits are required to finalize enrollment. They are not an additional fee; the amount is credited toward your total tuition balance.
| Program | Deposit | When Due |
|---|---|---|
| The Luminary | $1,500 | Due with the signed Enrollment Contract by April 18 |
| The Quest | $300 | Due at registration (unless bundled with Luminary) |
Your spot is not held until the deposit is received. Deposits are non-refundable and protect the school's ability to commit to faculty salaries, transportation, and campus maintenance. For families whose enrollment is contingent on the UFA scholarship, see the deposit protection policy above.

Can I use the UFA scholarship at Volo?
Yes — in two ways. Volo is both an approved UFA private school and an approved UFA vendor. If your child enrolls in the Luminary as their primary school, the $8,000 private school scholarship applies to tuition. If you homeschool and want your child to attend the Quest on Fridays, your homeschool UFA funds ($4,000–$6,000 depending on age) cover the full cost. Either way, families can direct scholarship funds to Volo through their Odyssey parent dashboard.
I haven't applied for UFA yet. Can I still enroll?
Yes. New UFA applications open April 1 and close May 1. You can enroll at Volo by April 18 and apply for UFA within the same window. Indicate on your Enrollment Contract that your enrollment is contingent on UFA, and your deposit is protected if the scholarship is denied. Contact us and we'll walk you through both processes together.
What if I pay the deposit but don't get the UFA scholarship?
If your enrollment is marked as contingent on UFA and you are denied the scholarship, your $1,500 deposit is fully refundable. You can withdraw at no cost, or we can work together on alternative funding through Volo's Bridge Fund and SSS-based financial aid. We won't let a scholarship decision blindside you.
Do I still qualify for discounts with UFA?
Yes. UFA applies on top of whatever tuition rate you qualify for. A returning family on the Founder Rate with UFA would pay $7,000 for the Luminary. Add the sibling discount and a second child's cost drops further.
How do the discounts interact?
Discounts are not "stacked" on a single student. If you qualify for multiple discounts, each child receives the lowest applicable rate. The sibling discount (10% off for the 2nd and subsequent children) applies to all families.
What is UFA's current legal status?
The program was ruled unconstitutional by a district court in April 2025 but continues to operate normally while the Utah Supreme Court reviews the case. The 2026–27 application cycle is open and being administered by Odyssey. The Utah Attorney General is actively defending the program. We'll keep families informed of any changes.
Why is the enrollment deadline April 18?
Volo's expenses—faculty salaries, transportation, facilities, insurance—depend on a confirmed student count. April 18 gives us the information we need to finalize contracts and guarantee the quality of the program for the year ahead.
Families submit financial information through a secure, centralized online portal (SSS), and Volo uses that data to make objective, mission-aligned aid decisions.
A non-refundable fee (typically around $60) is required at submission. SSS automatically applies fee waivers for families who qualify based on federal free lunch program income guidelines.
